Mistral AI builds open and commercial frontier models. Mistral Large is their flagship model for complex reasoning. Mistral Small and Codestral are optimized for speed and coding respectively. Their open models (Mistral 7B, Mixtral 8x7B) popularized the mixture-of-experts architecture and can be self-hosted.
